"If you tone it down Life can't hear you." Danielle La Porte January 19 2017, 1 Comment

Hello you all! How I LOVE that quote from Danielle La Porte! And a mantra I shall be taking with me this year. But first a fun quick peak back at 2016 and some behind the scenes snaps, mostly  unshared moments!  We may create glamour but the process most certainly isn't!   At Glastonbury helping the fabulous With Wild Abandon In the polaris with some of the urns on their way to be finished ready for the glamping decor at Pennard Hill Farm   In the process of making the 6x3x6x3m gyp ceiling installation. (Finished result on the front page of the...

My neglected blog! But with important dates for your diary! November 16 2016, 0 Comments

Yikes its been five months.... Please can you just put it down to a very busy few months! Which is certainly true and I'm very grateful for some fabulous work that has come my way. Many of the weddings over the Summer have required ceiling decoration, which despite presenting challenges, has been very rewarding to create not least because it has naturally meant involving team work.     St Ouen's Manor 6m hanging garden Photo by Studio M Matt Porteous Max Burnett   Haie Fleurie Hanging Gypsophila 6x3x6x3m from the ceiling with fairy lights intertwined. "No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow." Proverb April 22 2016, 0 Comments

With a few warmer hours given to us and some sparkling days, it does at last feel as though Spring has arrived with Her beautiful colours and wonderful serenading. Its definitely my favourite time of year and Delphi and I have even stopped mid cliff run and swum a few lengths in clear, glistening, bracing waters. So with Spring comes an abundance of fragrant flowers and my nose has buried deep into lilac, narcisi and hyacinths. I have marveled at the speed and lengths that tulips continue to grow to, despite being a cut flower. Like my children, they grow...

Buds of love February 14 2016, 0 Comments

"This bud of love, by summer's ripening breath, May prove a beauteous flower when next we meet." Romeo and Juliet 2.2   A personal love of mine is literature. I consider myself lucky that as a child when I wasn't outside hurling about in the mud, fields or surf I would often hide myself quite literally under my bed to read. To escape the Doing and guiltily Be, with words, stories, other lives, and other worlds. I adored the Classics and still do.   When it came to thinking a name for my business, ( Clara Barthorp Flowers somehow did...

2016! January 21 2016, 0 Comments

Hello you lovelies, HAPPY HAPPY 2016 and wishing it be good and kind to you all, full of health, happiness, love and laughter. Some of you know, some of you don't. I have an absolute passion for gorgeous stationary, diaries, note books, paper, and if the paper allows and I can use my ink pen, all the better! Fresh ink on a page is somehow more satisfying then biro, the anticipation of it drying, the hope of no unwanted splodge. It somehow slows the process down of putting thoughts to paper and in our busy hectic worlds of instance, immediacy,...

"Autumn is a second Spring when every leaf is a flower." Albert Camus October 15 2015, 0 Comments

"Autumn is a second Spring when every leaf is a flower." Albert Camus. I love this quote and it has been so true this year with our wonderfully beautiful Autumn. The colours have inspired many of my arrangements, and I just love including textures and leaves which create and evoke the rustle and fragrance of warmth and cosiness.         Its been a very busy few weeks with more fabulous Winter busyness to come! ( Dates for workshops to follow!) BTW: Melanie Mayer Davies has won a place at one of the Wilde Thyme Winter Workshops as being our...

Summer Lovin' June 30 2015, 0 Comments

Don't you just LOVE this time of year? Its completely my favourite with our island just bursting in abundance and colour. From strawberries to peonies, to exotic looking agapanthus which seem to grow like weeds here much to the envy of our friends over the pond.    Local Sarah Bernhardt peonies with fragrant sweet peas   My fav Summer colour combo   Wilde Thyme has been blessed with some lovely pieces of work to do. Its been weddingtastic including peacocks at St Ouen Manor and peonies in parasols suspended from the ceiling at Samare Manor. The brilliant Natalie Mayer has...

April Sheds News April 26 2015, 0 Comments

Apparently the She Shed is all the rage. A space in the garden usually, where the women folk like to go. To be, to read, to write, be creative or just hang out! We all know men love a shed and what happens in them remains a bit of a mystery to those not men and not shed lovers. Whilst being totally oblivious to this new she shed  trend, some months ago, I decided a lovely shed in the garden would be just the place and the solution to my working day. Requiring space other then my kitchen table to...
